Metabolism Foods: Specific Foods To Eat That Will Increase Metabolism

Many people struggle with weight loss and deciding the proper food to eat. Today we are going to talk about metabolism foods and what exactly we should eat in order to increase metabolism. Before we get started I want to emphasize that although these foods may increase your metabolism, simply eating them is may not be enough to produce significant weight loss. You need to couple these metabolism foods with a solid exercise program to get the lasting results that you want. However, with that being said, “Abs are made in the kitchen not the gym”. Eating right is 80 percent of the work. Now let’s get to the metabolism foods that will give you the boost you have been looking for.

When it comes to eating, one of the best things you can do to get your metabolism started out right each day is to eat breakfast. Dieting and skipping meals can actually slow down your metabolism. This happens as a natural safeguard because your body has to compensate for the lack of nutrients. So choose some of the metabolism foods below and get your day started off right.

§ Meat

Lean meat such as chicken, turkey and fish are some of the best metabolism foods you can eat. These meats have very little fat and are high in protein. If you have read any of my previous articles you will know that a key to increasing your metabolism is to workout and gain lean muscle mass. Muscles need protein and these lean meats are packed with it! When selecting fish, I highly recommend eating salmon or tuna because they contain a high amount of Omega-3 fatty acids which are really good for your heart. Not only that, they taste good as well J.

§ Eggs

Eggs are a high protein food and should be included in everyone’s eating plan. There are many ways to eat them and should fit even the pickiest eaters taste.

§ Almonds

There are many different types of nuts out there but the almonds are the best for increasing metabolism. They are full of good fats, fiber and protein. They are very filling and would be an excellent snack item instead of those cookies that you were looking at. If you don’t like almonds try cashews, pine or walnuts because they all contain a lot of good fats and antioxidants.

§ Beans

Red beans, black beans, whatever style you like they are a solid metabolism food. Beans are high in fiber and protein.

§ Yogurt

Yogurt will promote a healthy digestive tract and keep that junk from cluttering up your insides. It’s important to check the label though. Not all yogurts are created equal. Find yogurt that is natural and doesn’t have a lot of added sugar. Another item that I personally eat a lot of and highly recommend is kefir. It is much less known and not quite mainstream yet but it is a pro-biotic and is even healthier for you than yogurt. To learn more about kefir and it’s benefits go here:

§ Water

Although it is really a drink and not exactly a food, I couldn’t leave water out of the mix. It is very important that you drink AT LEAST 8 ounces of water each day, preferably more. Water transports all of the nutrients to the proper places within your body and it is one of the best things you can drink. Here is an added metabolism food tip. Add ice to your water and drink it cold. Cold water actually forces your digestive system to work harder and will burn more calories. I’m not saying that drinking cold water alone will get you ripped but burning a few extra calories here and there is never a bad thing.

This is definitely not an exhaustive list of the best metabolism foods but hopefully it can get you on the right track. Just remember to stick to things that are low in fat and high in protein. Try your best to stay away from foods that contain a high amount of sugar and as my mom used to tell me “Be Sure To Eat Your Vegetables”.

If you would like to learn more about metabolism foods and how to eat properly, then I suggest you take a look at Metabolic Cooking. It gives more than 250 recipes that will show you how to eat right and shred the fat. Also, you need to couple your diet with a solid exercise program. The Truth About Abs is one of the best programs on the market. Take a look at both of them and decide for yourself which one you think is best for your situation.

See you next time : )
